(Unglazed! I still have yet to glaze my pieces)************
In the post prior to this one I have talked about my new love of clay. I have chosen to work with porcelain because of it's beautiful luster among other lovely qualities it possesses. As someone who is creative, I seem to always be exploring new ideas and business's, from Jewelry Design, Interior Design and Decorating, Photography, Home Accessories and now, Clay! I have been taking classes for just over a month but, I have finally discovered my true passion.
(Imprinted with the sweet words "I love you" in French)

I have chosen to use the hand built technique, which I love. Each piece I make is completely done by hand without the use of a pottery wheel or molds. It's amazing to me all of the things I am learning. I never could have imagined all of the details and knowledge I would need to know. I thought a vase is a vase, but I have learned that clay is one of the most difficult mediums to work with. There is choosing the right clay body, vitrification, coils, seams, glazing, firing and on and on.
When I am not taking classes, sending out orders or spending time with my children, my time is spent refining my pieces. I am looking forward to the day that I glaze each piece. It's the glaze that will add color and warmth and bring out all of the details in each piece.

Today I was very inspired by Valentine's Day. I thought I would add a twist to my "Intertwined" Collection.
What I love about being creative is that I never know what new ideas tomorrow may bring. Two months ago I would have never thought I would be working with clay, yet here I am. There is something so special to me about the process of taking a simple slab of clay and turning it in to a beautiful, functional handmade item. I feel lucky to have found this amazing new way to express myself creatively and I am starting the New Year, INSPIRED!
